Seed is a biannual magazine, edited by Carole Bamford. At its heart is the belief that we need to live sustainably and consciously. It hopes to gently inspire readers to make small changes with their own choices so that together we can have a wider impact on the future of the planet. This second volume has a strong emphasis on craft and the makers that are helping to shape the future with their vision for a more sustainable way to live.

Artist Spencer Fung reveals why nature provides the tools and the palette for his work. Furniture maker Sebastian Cox discusses his passion for preserving and protecting the environment and how we can inspire other designers to do the same. And Pippa Small talks to us about her ethical jewellery lines, her charitable work and the constraints and challenges of collaborating with artisans in war-torn regions.

Elsewhere, Carole Bamford interviews environmental architect and artist Maya Lin about the role art can play in behavioural change and whether it can serve as a call to action. Buddhist monk Gelong Thubten invites us to examine the human search for happiness, and nutritionist Rhaya Jordan discusses how in nourishing our gut health, we can in turn help influence our mental health. The magazine also celebrates the importance of being conscious of where our food comes from with simple, seasonal recipes focused on reducing food waste.

Volume 02, 108 pages, 275 x 210mm, printed on 100% recycled paper using vegetable inks.

Lily Q. ★★★★★

I bought this to have on my coffee table and the articles on slow fashion and organic gardening genuinely shifted how I think about daily habits. The paper quality makes each page feel special, and I’ve already left it out for guests to flip through.

Claire ★★★★★

The layout is so clean and the paper feels lovely to flip through, and every article leaves you with a small idea you can actually try. I've been leaving it on the coffee table and picking it up for ten minutes at a time, which is exactly how I like to read a magazine like this.

Abigail I. ★★★★★

The photography and layout are gorgeous, but what really got me was the essay on small daily habits—it's the kind of thing you actually want to keep on the coffee table, not just flip through once. I've already changed how I shop for produce after reading it.
